Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get a Private Pilot License?+
The FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours of flight time, but most students finish in 45–60 hours depending on schedule, aptitude, and weather. With focused, consistent training, many students complete within 3–6 months. Accelerated students have completed in as few as 3–4 weeks.
What's included in the $100 Discovery Flight?+
Your discovery flight includes 30 minutes in the air (you'll get to fly!) plus 30 minutes on the ground discussing the pilot license process, training timeline, costs, and any questions you have. The $100 fee also counts toward your total logged flight time if you choose to continue training.
Do I need any prior experience to start training?+
Absolutely not! No experience is required whatsoever. Many of our students have never been in a small aircraft before their discovery flight. We start from the very beginning and build your skills systematically. All you need is curiosity and enthusiasm.
What are the total costs to get my PPL?+
At 50 hours average, expect approximately: $6,750 aircraft rental + $3,250 instruction = ~$10,000 total. Additional costs include the FAA written exam (~$175), medical exam (~$125), and checkride fee (~$700). We'll walk through a detailed budget during your ground session.
Where are you located?+
We operate out of Livingston County Spencer J. Hardy Airport (KOZW) at 3399 County Airport Drive, Howell, MI 48855. Easily accessible from Brighton, Howell, Pinckney, and greater Livingston County. Free parking on-site.
How do I schedule a lesson?+
You can schedule via our online Flight Schedule Pro portal (available to enrolled students), by calling or texting 810-522-0218, or by emailing AeroProAviation25@gmail.com. We offer morning, afternoon, and weekend availability.
